Excavating the essence of the building means subtraction, not addition.

去除磚牆粉刷層，挖掘老屋原貌，重現原始肌理。對於媒材，不做過多加工，展現材料「裸」的質感。

The plaster layer is removed from the brick walls, revealing the original form of the old house and restoring its raw texture. Materials are left with minimal processing, retaining their "bare" texture.

於此之上，重新詮釋舊元素，或為窗花，或為構件，並隨時間映射成影，新舊交融。

Old elements are reinterpreted on this basis — as window lattices, as structural components — casting shadows that shift with time, old and new merging.

整修過程中，一組不銹鋼線材與鋼板構成的薄型開放層架嵌入實心磚牆內。磚牆本身沒有動，保留磚材粗糙的質地。不銹鋼與老砌體並置，是刻意做出的對比，同時不放棄這間公寓因年份而來的味道。

During the renovation, a slim open shelf of stainless wire and plate was recessed into the solid brick wall. The wall itself was left untouched, keeping the rough, coarse feel of the brick. Stainless steel set against old masonry makes a deliberate contrast, without giving up the charm of the apartment's age.
